The 2009 Blamey Stakes was taken out by the D A Hayes trained Largo Lad from barrier 4, carrying 54.0kg in weight. Largo Lad, a 4yo gelding was ridden by Chris Symons and won the race 1 lengths ahead of the second placed Playwright (NZ), who carried 57.0 from barrier 9. Then followed Just Look in third spot 1 lengths behind, carrying 55.0. Largo Lad won at odds of 9.00.
