Chatham Stakes Betting
The Chatham Stakes is a Group 3 race held on Derby Day at Flemington racecourse in Melbourne, in late October. It is raced over a distance of 1400 metres and is an open handicap carrying $250,000 in prize money. Trainers use this race as lead up race for the Group 1 Emirates Stakes held later the following Saturday as it is similar in distance and conditions.
It was first run in 1978 and upgraded to Group 3 status in 1996. Noteable winners include All Silent last year, Black Bean (1999), Bezeal Bay (1998), Blue Boss (1991), La Caissiere (1984) and Sarsha’s Choice (1978).

2009 Chatham Stakes Result
The 2009 Chatham Stakes was taken out by the David Payne trained Centennial Park from barrier 5, carrying 53kg in weight. Centennial Park, a 4yo gelding was ridden by B Shinn and won the race 0.1 lengths ahead of the second placed McClintock, who carried 56 from barrier 11. Then followed Royal Ida in third spot 9yo g lengths behind, carrying 55. Centennial Park won at odds of 10.

2008 Chatham Stakes Result
The 2008 Chatham Stakes was taken out by the G M Begg trained All Silent from barrier 2, carrying 54.5kg in weight. All Silent, a 5yo gelding was ridden by D Oliver and won the race .8 lengths ahead of the second placed Sniper's Bullet, who carried 57.5 from barrier 16. Then followed Stickpin (NZ) in third spot 1 lengths behind, carrying 55.5. All Silent won at odds of 4.25.
