The Moonga Stakes (aka Betfair Stakes) is a Group 3 event held annually at Caulfield racecourse on the same day as the Group 1 Caulfield Cup. It is raced over a distance of 1400 metres and is open to 4-year-olds and up at set weights and penalties conditions. Horses that perform well in this race will use it as a lead up to the Group 1 Emirates Stakes held later in the carnival.

The race has been run since 1982 and was upgraded to Group 3 status in 1994. Notable winners include Perfectly Ready, Thorn Park, Assertive Lad, Flavour, Rough Habit and Vo Rogue. It ws taken out last year by Royal Discretion ahead of Turrfontein and Stickpin.

The Baguette Stakes held a fortnight earlier is perhaps the best indication of form leading up to the Moonga Stakes. The Baguette was won this year by All Silent paying $13.00, ahead of First Command ($7.50) and Light Fantastic ($9.00).
