Tristarc Stakes Betting
The Tristarc Stakes is a Group 2 event held on Caulfield Cup day annually at Caulfied racecourse in Melbourne. The race itself is open to 4-year-old mares at set weights and penalties conditions. It is held over a distance of 1400 metres and carries prize money of $175,000. Horses that compete in this race will usually go on to contest the Group 1 Myer Classic further on in the spring carnival.
It was first run in 1982 and was only upgraded to Group 2 status in 2006. Notable winners of the Tristarc Stakes include Infinate Grace (2003, 2005), Our Egyptian Raine (2004), Reactive (2002), Pernod (2001) and Bonanova (1999). It was won last year by Mimi Lebrock ahead of Tan Tat De Lago and Absolutelyfabulous.
The Rose Of Kingston Stakes has been the best form guide for this race throughout its short history, producing several winners. Cats Whisker took out this year Blazer Stakes ahead of Gold Water and Dane Julia.
2009 Tristarc Stakes preview
Race 6 on the cards at 2:40pm. Hot Danish ($2.90) is the raging favourite here with many pundits and rightfully so. He is a quality mare and was outstanding first up winning the G3 Research Stakes. Struggled a fortnight ago in the G2 Blazer Stakes after a bad draw, but can be forgiven. He is a Good/Dead track specialist and is extremely hard to ignore. Typhoon Tracy ($3.40) is the nearest danger and will welcome the drop in distance to 1400m. Placed in the G2 Liston Stakes and G2 Makybe Diva Stakes before struggling in the G1 Underwood, but is a definite chance here.
Neroli ($5.50) was excellent first up finishing second at this track in the G3 How Now. Was a G1 Queen Of The Turf winner back in the autumn and is a proven performer at this distance. Has beaten Hot Danish in each of the three meetings they have had so far, so cant discount. Gold Water ($8.50) was also excellent first up finishing second behind Cats Whisker in the G2 Blazer Stakes, which is good form. Is also a proven winner at Caulfield and this distance. Tootise ($16.00) is the other outside chance in this race. He is a NZ horse carrying just 53kg who ran second here last week in the Northwood Plume. He is back to 1400 where he is at his most dangerous and is in good form.

2009 Tristarc Stakes Result
The 2009 Tristarc Stakes was taken out by the P G Moody trained Typhoon Tracy from barrier 6, carrying 57.5kg in weight. Typhoon Tracy, a 4yo mare was ridden by L Nolen and won the race 2.8 lengths ahead of the second placed Hot Danish, who carried 57.5 from barrier 7. Then followed Glowlamp in third spot 1 lengths behind, carrying 53.0. Typhoon Tracy won at odds of 4.00.
