The Everest proudly boasts to be the world's richest race on turf and with $15,000,000 in prize money on offer it looks certain to hold that title for some time to come.

The 2021 The Everest will be run on October 16, 2021 at Randwick racecourse.

While the race is still in it's infancy there is no doubting it's already one of the most widely followed races in Australia.

The Everest 2021

The Everest was first run in 2017 and has a field capacity of 12 horses. It was hoped that many of the world's best sprinters would travel to contest The Everest and the massive prize money on offer.

In 2017 the Everest was worth $10,000,000 and following it's success it was announced shortly after that the prize money on offer would icnrease to $15,000,000 by 2021.

The Everest Betting

Even in the races inaugural year, it attracted plenty of interest among punters with many bets being placed months out from the race with no confirmed runners.

Given the quality of horses that contest The Everest there is no surprise that the race attracts many big bets.

Betting on The Everest attracts many headlines as big bets placed on the race can often give a strong indication as to whether a horse is likely to get a slot in the race.

In the races maiden year it was Redzel who took out The Everest, Redzel went on to win the Darley Classic furing the Melbourne Cup carnival in the same year.

The Everest Field

The field for The Everest in limited to 12 runners.

Unlike other feature races The Everest doesn't have nominations or acceptances. The field is determined by the 12 slot owners. Each slot is sold prior to the event and each slot holder can determine which horse will run in their slot.

Slots for The Everest are tradeable commercial instruments which means they can be sold, joint ventured or leased at a time prior to a nominated race entry date.

With the massive amount of prize money on offer it's hoped that the race will attract the world's best sprinters.

The Everest Entertainment

The Everest might be the main draw card at Randwick but it's world quality entertainment has proven popular among racegoers.

With tens of thousands attending the meeting each year the Australian Turf Club puts on world class entertainment to match the glamourous fashion and food that the day has to offer.
