The 2009 Doomben Cup was taken out by the D L Morton trained Scenic Shot from barrier 13, carrying 59.0kg in weight. Scenic Shot, a 6yo gelding was ridden by S Scriven and won the race .1 lengths ahead of the second placed Racing To Win, who carried 59.0 from barrier 4. Then followed Sir Slick (NZ) in third spot .8 lengths behind, carrying 59.0. Scenic Shot won at odds of 12.00.
