The 2009 Moonee Valley Oaks was taken out by the D L Freedman trained Romneya from barrier 8, carrying 55.5kg in weight. Romneya, a 3yo Filly was ridden by K Mc Evoy and won the race .5 lengths ahead of the second placed Lamarr, who carried 55.5 from barrier 10. Then followed Turquia in third spot 1.3 lengths behind, carrying 55.5. Romneya won at odds of 3.75.
