Rosehill Guineas Betting
The Rosehill Guineas is a Group 1 thoroughbred race held each March at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney. It is the second of three legs of the Sydney 3yo Triple Crown, with the other two races in the series called the Randwick Guineas and the AJC Derby.
The race has been held since 1910 and is raced over a distance of 2000m, however throughout the history of this race the distance has changed somewhat with it being held over 1400m, 1800m and 2000m which it has remained at since 1948. The race was promoted to Group 1 status in 1980.
The race itself is for 3 year olds held at set weights and carries prize money worth $500,000. Some big names have won this race over the years including Kingston Town, Octagonal, Strawberry Road and Tie the Knot.
Because the Guineas is one of the Sydney Carnivals better 3-year-old events held at 2000m, the race is often used as a lead up to the Group 1 AJC Australian Derby held a fortnight later for 3-year-olds at a distance of 2400m. When analysing the Guineas field, pay very close attention to the Randwick Guineas held two weeks earlier, 11 of the past 15 Rosehill Guineas winners have used the Randwick Guineas as a lead up race.

2009 Rosehill Guineas Result
The 2009 Rosehill Guineas was taken out by the J Denham trained Metal Bender (NZ) from barrier 5, carrying 56.5kg in weight. Metal Bender (NZ), a 3yo gelding was ridden by D Nikolic and won the race .1 lengths ahead of the second placed Sousa (NZ), who carried 56.5 from barrier 11. Then followed Rock Kingdom in third spot .1 lengths behind, carrying 56.5. Metal Bender (NZ) won at odds of 4.50.
