Thoroughbred Club Stakes Betting
The Thoroughbred Club Stakes is a Group 3 race held on Caulfield Guineas Day each year. It is raced over a distance of 1200 metres and is open to 3-year-old fillies and carries prize money of $100,000. It is held on the same day as three Group 1 races including the Caulfield Guineas, Yalumba Stakes and Toorak Handicap.
It was first held in 1968 and was upgraded to Group 3 status in 1979. It hasn’t produced many notable winners, but names such as Queen Of The Hill, Innovation Girl and Damselfy are winners who have been solid performers.
2009 Thoroughbred Club Stakes
Race 3 on the cards at 1:15pm. Avenue ($2.80) is favourite, but very short. She set fast pace at Flemington first up finishing second behind the impressive Irish Lights. She followed that up with a win in the G3 Champagne Stakes at the Valley and looks tough to beat here. Headway ($11.00) looks serious value here. She finished second here first up back in August in the Quezette and followed that up with an eighth in the G1 Golden Rose in Sydney. She is back to 1200m here and is a definite value each way bet.
Rostova ($6.00) showed glimpses of her best a fortnight ago at the Valley finishing second in the G3 Champagne Stakes, finishing behind Avenue. She could be ready to pounce here and is a multiple winner at Caulfield. Kanzan ($14.00) beat the impressive Shellscrape on debut back in May and finished fourth first up in the LR Heritage last month. Is proven at this distance and could be a danger. Tale of Love ($26.00) had an excellent Autumn and showed promise first up a fortnight ago at this track with a fifth. May go close. Gibraltor Moon ($9.00), Marquardt ($7.00) and So Anyway ($16.00) are outsiders.

2009 Thoroughbred Club Stakes Result
The 2009 Thoroughbred Club Stakes was taken out by the P G Moody trained Avenue from barrier 10, carrying 56.5kg in weight. Avenue, a 3yo Filly was ridden by D Oliver and won the race 1.3 lengths ahead of the second placed Headway, who carried 56.5 from barrier 15. Then followed Kanzan in third spot .4 lengths behind, carrying 55.5. Avenue won at odds of 2.50.
