The 2009 TJ Smith Stakes was taken out by the J A Janiak trained Takeover Target from barrier 6, carrying 58.5kg in weight. Takeover Target, a 9yo gelding was ridden by N Rawiller and won the race 2.8 lengths ahead of the second placed Northern Meteor, who carried 56.5 from barrier 4. Then followed Apache Cat in third spot 3 lengths behind, carrying 58.5. Takeover Target won at odds of 5.50.
