Nominations in for Epsom Handicap Day

Posted by RS NewsWire at 7:10pm on September 25th

The big miles are one of the best aspects of Australian racing and one of the great days on the turf is Epsom day where Randwick will be on show with so many features.

That G1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) will be yet another open betting contest with many hopes. Pericles ($6) is in great form but will have plenty of company.

Hope In Your Heart ($8) loves the Randwick mile, Chris Waller has a vast array of hopes with Osipenko ($11), Democracy Manifest ($15) and Kovalica ($15) while My Oberon ($15) has form through some of the beset around.

In the G1 Metropolitan (2400m) for the stayers, there looks to be one with a stranglehold on the race. Just Fine ($2) has been enormous so far and it will take a big turnaround from one of the rest. Could that come from Derby winners like Major Beel ($11) or Manzoice ($26).

Fillies will get their chance at the G1 glory in the Flight Stakes (1600m). Tiz Invincible ($2.60) is flying but Kimochi ($5) is not far behind her. The others have some real estate to make up but it is now a mile.

One of the last major Everest lead ups is the G2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) and one of the favourites is going to run. Think About It ($2.30) will stake his claim on the big one but will Alcohol Free ($8) confirm her spot as well?

We also get to see the first of the metropolitan juvenile races for the season with the time honoured G3 Breeders’ Plate (1000m) and G3 Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) ready to go.

Most of the big stables that dominate these races will look to be represented.
