Star Aussie sprinters gear up for Royal Ascot
Star sprinters Artorius and Cannonball, along with filly Coolangatta, are gearing up for their highly anticipated appearance at the prestigious Royal Ascot.
The trio is scheduled to fly out to the United Kingdom on Wednesday night, with their trainers expressing confidence in their preparations.
“He had a piece of work yesterday (Monday) at Mornington, and he’s fit and well and ready to go.” Co-trainer Sam Freedman said.
“He seems to be going just as well if not better than 12 months ago, so he’ll arrive there, and, touch wood, the flight goes smoothly and he settles in well.”
Meanwhile, Peter Snowden, who trains Cannonball with his son Paul, praised the three-year-old colt’s form.
“His trials have been good, but it’s a 1000-meter race (King’s Stand Stakes) and it’s all about speed and execution, so we’re keen to get it right on the day.” Snowden said.
Acknowledging the long journey ahead, Snowden expressed confidence in Cannonball’s ability to handle it.
“He’s a big, strong horse and a great eater, so he should be okay.”
With Artorius targeting the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes once again and Cannonball aiming for victory in the King’s Stand Stakes, all eyes will be on these exceptional sprinters as they strive to make their mark at Royal Ascot.
