Winx’s half-sister City Of Lights sent for a spell
City Of Lights, the highly anticipated half-sister of racing legend Winx, won’t extend her first preparation with trainers opting to spell the rising four-year-old.
Despite being the second emergency, the talented filly did not secure a start in the Listed Winx Guineas on Saturday, as she was unable to overcome a wide barrier draw.
While it was initially anticipated that City Of Lights would compete in a restricted race at Eagle Farm this Wednesday, she was notably absent from the acceptances on Monday.
The Anthony and Sam Freedman stable assured that the daughter of Deep Impact is in good health but has made the decision to spell in Queensland and focus on her spring campaign.
City Of Lights, who displayed her potential with a debut victory over 1400 meters at Geelong in early June, will now enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Meanwhile, the ninth foal from Vegas Showgirl, Time Of My Life, sired by I Am Invincible, has been demonstrating promising abilities in jumpouts under the guidance of trainer Peter Moody and has recently returned to training, keeping the family legacy alive.
