Jamie Kah charged over photo with white powder

Champion jockey Jamie Kah and licensed person Ruby McIntyre have been charged by Racing Victoria stewards for conduct prejudicial to the image of racing.
The charges stem from the publication of images showing the pair at a gathering at Kah’s home, where stewards allege there was a perception of illicit substance use based on recordings and photographs of a white powder.
McIntyre, the individual who took and shared the images, has been officially charged alongside Kah under Australian Rule of Racing AR 228(a), which prohibits conduct prejudicial to the image, interests, integrity, or welfare of racing.
The charges will be heard before the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a yet-to-be-determined date.
Jamie Kah, who has been recovering from a severe concussion sustained in a fall at Flemington in March, expressed disappointment at the publication of the images and released a statement emphasizing her focus on health and recovery.
The 27-year-old jockey is determined to make a full recovery and return to racing to regain her position as the leading jockey in the Victorian metropolitan jockeys’ premiership.
However, the charges against Kah have added another layer of complexity to the premiership race, as fellow jockey Blake Shinn currently holds a three-win lead over Kah in the Melbourne tally.
