Well-related siblings nominated at Randwick

Classique Legend versus Home Affairs versus Away Game is a clash that would spice up an off-season meeting and while Randwick racegoers won’t get to see that this weekend, they might get to see their relations clash.

Half-siblings to those stars are all entered for the $150,000 two-year-old handicap that shapes as a highlight of the meeting.

I Am Famous is an I Am Invincible half-sister to The Everest winner Classique Legend who cost $2 million at Inglis Easter last year, the same sale that Home Affairs’ half-brother Marenaro, who is by Dundeel, sold for $540,000.

The Chris Waller-trained pair made their debut at the Warwick Farm meeting on June 28; I Am Famous finishing third in the 1200m two-year-old fillies maiden, while Marenaro finished fifth of 11 in the 1200m colts and geldings event.

I Am Famous is also an acceptor for the 1250m two-year-old event at Canterbury on Wednesday but has drawn the outside alley in a field of 12.

The blueblood pair is among 23 entries for a race that also includes the Michael Freedman-trained Pirate, a colt by Merchant Navy out of Elusive Wonder, which makes him a half-brother to Away Game.

There are no Black Type races on Saturday’s Randwick card but the 1400m benchmark 88 event does include the Ciaron Maher and Ciaron Maher, David Eustace-trained Chassis, a winner of the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic two starts ago.

Her stablemate St Lawrence, who stretched his record to five wins from six starts with a first-up win at Caulfield on June 24, has also been entered, along with Annabel Neasham’s Flashing Steel, who has won his past four starts, and last Saturday’s Randwick winner Battleton.
