Forgot You has impressive jumpout at Cranbourne

An impressive jumpout at Cranbourne on Monday morning has Trent Busuttin optimistic Forgot You’s connections could be in for the lucrative spring they were denied by injury last year.
The former promising staying three-year-old has not been to the races since finishing down the track in last year’s ATC Australian Derby owing to a suspensory injury sustained while being readied for his four-year-old spring.
The son of Savabeel cruised to the line under little riding in an 800m jumpout, which impressed his Cranbourne conditioner.
“He’s come back good and he enjoyed being out there,” Busuttin told RSN927.
“He ran third hard on the bridle today, just over the half-mile, but he was above himself and feeling well and it was good to see him stretch out nicely.
“He’ll have another trial in a couple of weeks and then look to kick off in August.
“He’s certainly got the ability levels if he can stay sound and I’m sure he’s got a nice race in him in spring.”
Forgot You was one of the three-year-old stars of the 2021 Spring Carnival, winning the Stutt Stakes (1600m) and Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) at Group 2 level before finishing fifth in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m).
He ran fourth in the Australian Guineas (1600m) and Rosehill Guineas (2000m) at the highest level before his ATC Derby run and Busuttin said the entire would be ‘entered for everything’ this spring.
“He’s a genuine Group 2 horse and hopefully can improve,” Busuttin, who trains in partnership with Natalie Young, said.
“He’ll kick off somewhere over seven furlongs and then we’ll work it out from there.
“Even at the back end of the spring, a race like the Five Diamonds, an 1800-metre $2 million race.
“We’ll let the horse tell us, but he’ll be nominated for everything and we’ll figure it out as we go.”
Forgot You trialled alongside imported stablemate Uncle Bryn, who Busuttin expects to assert him as a top-level performer this spring.
“I think he’ll get to the top level this time in, he works like a genuine Group 1 horse,” he said.
“He’ll kick off in the Lawrence and we’ll work things out form there. He’ll also be nominated for everything, the Epsom, Toorak and Caulfield Cups and hopefully he can prove me right.”
