Melbourne Cup 2023 contenders set to trial at Rosehill

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s Melbourne Cup 2023 contenders are ready to showcase their form as they participate in crucial trials at Rosehill on Friday.
One of their leading hopes, Goldman, will begin his journey to the 2023 Melbourne Cup in the opening trial over 1000 metres, where he will face off against his stablemate Major Beel, the G1 ATC Derby winner.
Goldman earned a spot in the Cup without the need for a ballot after an impressive victory in the Roy Higgins Quality in March, instantly becoming the early favorite for the prestigious race.
However, his odds have slightly drifted to $15 with Ladbrokes due to the emergence of Willie Mullin’s Vauban ($11) during the Royal Ascot carnival.
In addition to Waterhouse and Bott’s runners, trainer Chris Waller is utilizing the trials to kick-start the spring campaigns of several of his G1 horses, including Ed Bodegon, Lindermann, Madame Pommery, and Manzoice.
Furthermore, Waller will introduce the highly-touted sprinter Extremely Lucky, who recently joined his stable after being previously trained by Will Clarken in Adelaide.
Extremely Lucky will make his debut under Waller’s guidance in a 900-meter trial, adding anticipation to his potential in the upcoming season.
