White Marlin begins Melbourne Cup 2023 campaign

Jockey Tim Clark provided an optimistic assessment of Melbourne Cup 2023 contender White Marlin, expressing satisfaction with the horse’s current condition.
The talented import, trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, is steadily building momentum towards peaking in November.
Following White Marlin’s first trial over 1100m at Canterbury, Clark shared his insights on the performance.
While the horse finished sixth, 5.5 lengths behind Devil’s Throat, Clark remained positive.
“He sort of was out the back a little bit. Good late, good through the line.” Clark said.
The jockey acknowledged that White Marlin had given his all during the trial, resulting in a “good blow.”
“It’s only his first piece of work, and there’s a long way to go to where he’s sort of peaking,” Clark explained, emphasising that the horse is at an early stage in his preparation.
However, he was quick to assure everyone that White Marlin had “come back in good order,” instilling confidence in the galloper’s potential as a genuine Cups contender.
With White Marlin currently priced at $17 with Ladbrokes as the equal fifth elect for the Melbourne Cup.
