Think It Over edges closer to comeback

Think It Over is set to be given his most serious test yet when he continues his comeback from a tendon injury in a Warwick Farm barrier trial.

The $6 million earner hasn’t raced since his stunning win in the 2022 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, trainer Kerry Parker bringing him along slowly and methodically ahead of his long-awaited return in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 19.

Think About It was given a quiet hitout in his first trial back at Warwick Farm last month and Parker is keen for the horse to up the ante in Friday’s 1000m heat.

“He can be asked the question a bit and go and have a bit of a gallop,” Parker said.

“Since then, I did give him a gallop in between races at Kembla Thursday week ago to give him a day out with the microphones and speakers and a bit of a crowd.

“That was really good, no dramas there. Nash (Rawiller) came down and rode him and will again in the trial tomorrow.

“That was the first time he’d jumped back on him at Kembla and he thought he was moving really well, felt terrific and wanted to do more.”

Think It Over is in the first of the Group Trials on the course proper and will step out against young sprinter Buenos Noches, Group 1 performers Duais and Mo’Unga and classy Chris Waller stayers Francesco Guardi and Soulcombe.

They won’t be the only stars on show at Warwick Farm with the likes of ATC Australian Derby winner Major Beel, Melbourne Cup fancy Goldman, Golden Slipper runner-up Cylinder and Waller pair Hinged and Osipenko also down to trial.

The carnival build up will continue at Rosehill on Saturday with Annabel Neasham to work Zaaki and Sunshine In Paris between races, while Waller’s Group 1 winner Zougotcha will also step out for an exhibition gallop.
