Jamie Kah back on track with Cranbourne win

In a strong return to Victorian racing, jockey Jamie Kah secured a win on Sunday with All Black, a horse trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr., at Cranbourne.

This was Kah’s first win since coming back from an injury layoff that started in March.

Just a day prior, she had resumed her career in Sydney, riding in four black-type races at Randwick’s Winx Stakes meeting.

The win was noteworthy given the initial challenges. All Black had a difficult start, caught in traffic as other favorites moved ahead.

“I was thinking ‘we’re going to run a nice second here,’ I didn’t think he’d be able to get there in time,” said Kah.

However, under her guidance, All Black found clear room to make a late surge, winning the race by a long neck and showing that Kah’s skill in getting the best from her horses is still intact.

“The way he settled, I’d definitely step him up in trip after that… he did everything right, he was relaxed and showed he’s got a nice bit of ability.” said Kah.

“Running third felt like we’d won yesterday, he ran super.”

“I’m just happy to be back,” echoing the general sentiment of a racing community pleased to see her back in action.
