Feehan Stakes Day at The Valley will shed some light on the Spring

Moonee Valley has some strong group racing this Saturday that will offer racing folks a good guide to the big races to come.
The main race is the G2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) with horses who will be aiming at the Cups and/or Cox Plate. The Melbourne Cup winner himself Gold Trip ($15) is in the nominations but could face some younger types off winning runs of form.
Globe ($4) is unbeaten in his short, sharp career so far while Goldman ($11) is focusing on the big one in November after taking the Roy Higgins six months back. Francesco Guardi ($15) is a Moonee Valley Cup winner himself around this circuit.
Back to the sprinters where the G2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) has some of the biggest names around entered. Giga Kick ($1.90) could begin his Everest defence here against the top kiwi mare Imperatriz ($3.50). Defending champ Rothfire ($5.50) is also down from Brisbane.
The Listed Atlantic Jewel (1200m) for the 3yo fillies contains many looking to kick off preparations but also many with winning form including the likes of Inhibitions ($4.50) and Charm Stone ($2.25).
We also see the boys version in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) with several of the Sydney colts entered to run. The Instructor ($8) may head south along with Heuristic ($34), Barber ($8) and Amur ($15) for Godolphin but Steparty ($3) will be a real focus.
Plenty of others on the ten race card will bob up in the carnival and often use this meeting as a forerunner to big days like the Moir meeting along with Cox Plate day on the same track.
