There’s A Lot Of Good to come from Men says Andrews

Posted by RS NewsWire at 7:49am on December 12th

A Lot Of Good Men ran another cracking race in Saturday’s G1 Northerly Stakes (1800m), flashing home for fifth behind Dom To Shoot, beaten a length and a half.

It followed hot on the heels of a second finish to Zipaway in the WA Guineas (1600m) and a third behind Investment Strategy in the Fairetha Stakes (1400m).

Despite going through his Pinnacles campaign winless and not locking away a feature race win, Andrews says A Lot Of Good Men comes away with his reputation enhanced.

“I thought he was super,” Andrews said on Tabradio.

“He ran the best sectionals in the race, but the best sectionals don’t always win you the race.

“He just got too far out of his ground, really, we planned to be a bit more positive.

“He gave them too much of a start, but ran super.

“He’ll go to the paddock and have a month off and play on for the Lex Piper Stakes and JC Roberts Stakes, those sort of races.

“We’ll build his rating points up and he’ll be ready for this time next year.

“His runs have always been impressive and he still has a lot of maturing to do.

“I think it’s all ahead of him, for sure.”

Andrews is also bullish and upbeat about Define Beautiful’s future after she broke her maiden at start number two in the Magic Millions Plate (1000m).

Confidently backed by punters, the daughter of Ducimus came sailing home from second-last position and ran over the top of Sinful Living to score by just under a length.

Bought for $70,000 as a yearling, Define Beautiful ran fifth to Onemoretwomany on debut and has now pocketed $87,440 in prizemoney and bonuses from her two starts.

“She’ll have three weeks in the paddock and be back on path for the Magic Millions two-year-old race at Pinjarra,” Andrews said.

“I just loved her at the sales and thought she was the best filly on type.

“It was good to get the job done with her on Saturday.

“She’s a leggy filly with a big stride who copes with everything really well.

“She’s got a good temperament about her.”

Andrews said Street Band, who ran third to Define Beautiful, will press ahead to a Westspeed Platinum race on December 23.

Krysanova will go to the paddock after she finished seventh of nine to unbeaten Albany gelding, Final Siren.
