Early kickoff at Flemington as hot weather hits Super Saturday
In response to scorching temperatures forecasted for tomorrow’s Super Saturday at Flemington, Racing Victoria (RV) and the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) have opted to start the races early.
With the mercury expected to hit 39 degrees, the eight-race event will kick off at 10.45 am and conclude by 2.30 pm.
The decision, made in adherence to RV’s Racing in Hot Weather Policy, aims to safeguard the welfare of horses and participants.
Adjustments include shortened arrival times for horses and reduced pre-race parading.
Extra measures like misting fans and additional attendants will ensure the well-being of the equine athletes.
Despite the schedule change, racegoers can still revel in a full day of racing action at Flemington, with the venue opening at 10.15 am and public areas remaining accessible until after the last race.
