Forgotten King edging to a return

Dual Listed race winner All The King’s Men is a strong chance to return for the upcoming spring and summer carnival, according to trainer Trevor Andrews.

The five-year-old won last year’s WA Breeders Stakes (1400m) and Lex Piper Stakes (1600m) at Pinjarra and Ascot respectively and has spent almost 12 months on the sidelines with a tendon strain.

Andrews said there were encouraging signs on the gelding’s road to recovery.

“He went down to Wayne Kiely’s, who has the rehab centre where All The Kings Men has spent the last month now,” Andrews told TABradio.

“He’s got a water treadmill that is state-of-the-art and about two degrees.

“They go on a water treadmill one day and a dry one the next.

“He’s all systems go.”

Prior to his Listed wins early last year, All The Kings Men was also placed in the Group 3 WA Sires Produce Stakes (1400m), Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) and Listed Lee-Steere Classic (1400m).

Andrews said All The King’s Men wasn’t far away from commencing his spring and summer campaign.

“We are just marking time at the moment,” he said.

“It’s a bit too soon to have him back for the spring and summer.

“The tendon looks 100 per cent.

“I’m pretty positive about this bloke without getting too far ahead of myself.”

Andrews also has A Lot Of Good Men and Define Beautiful spelling and “in good order” ahead of a return to his stables later in the year.

Another of Andrews’ stable stars Street Band is set to have his final run for the campaign in this Saturday’s two-year-old event over 1400m.
