Bjorn Baker’s strong Rosehill races hand

It is fair to say that Bjorn Baker ‘s stable is going well at the moment.

A figure like a 35% strike-rate in the past month certainly backs that up and as he lines up a strong team at Rosehill, the run of success can continue.

“We’ve had a good run particularly over the last month where everything seems to be working”, Baker said.

“No doubt as we get into the autumn races it will get tougher, but we seem to be in a rich vein of form at the moment.”

One of those horses who has contributed to that and is lining up for a fourth-straight win is Disneck.

After three wins at Randwick since December 14, the four-year-old is equal $4 favourite with Cigar Flick in the Captivant @ Kia Ora Handicap (1300m).

“Tough ask to go three-in-a-row but four-in-a-row is another question mark,” Baker said.

“He’s got a good gate and I’m not sure if that is good or bad for him, but he is up to 1300-metres and he’s in great order. I can’t fault him.”

Baker has resisted the temptation to switch a claiming apprentice aboard but with the gelding not being overly big, and that Josh Parr had been successful twice on Disneck this campaign, he saw no reason to break the combination.

“He’s shown that he is fairly progressive and off this preparation he’ll be stakes grade at some stage for sure,” he added.

Similarly, Perfumist, who lines up in the Racing And Sports Handicap (1500m) and is the $3.40 favourite, is looking to add to the picket fence record.

“She’s going super and I think it works out well,” he said of the three-year-old who starts from barrier eight.

“Her work on Tuesday was excellent and she won by a margin last week. Tyler Schiller gets back on her after winning at Canterbury and she’s definitely a progressively filly.”

Baker is unsure whether Highlights will start in the Listed January Cup (2000m) in favour of other option after finishing third at Wyong last Saturday.

“He ran a good race in The Lakes against two really good horses in Robusto and Waterford so this could be a drop back.

“He’s running well and he’s coming into fitness whereas a few of these might be a touch vulnerable.

The stable also has Hezdarnhottoo engaged at Rosehill and adds that he could not be happier with this three-year-old gelding’s progress who he adds could have found a race lacking depth, while the day rounds out with $3.80 favourite Spring Lee who has stakes-grade aspirations but while having to overcome barrier 13 in the field of 14.
