Wrote To Arataki returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in nearly 18 months, claiming the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) in style.
Trainer Matthew Williams made the strategic decision to send the mare to a new spelling property following an underwhelming spring campaign, a move that has seemingly paid off.
Now in her second start this preparation, Wrote To Arataki displayed renewed vigor, with jockey Dean Yendall highlighting the impact of the wet track on her performance.
“She had a bit of a reset, and it’s clearly done her wonders. She’s come back in fantastic order,” Yendall said.
“The track was a bit too firm first-up, but when the rain arrived, I knew she’d be in with a big chance. She thrives in these conditions.”
Williams was absent from the race, attending a family function in Port Fairy.
