Abell Stakes or Australian Guineas 2025 for WA galloper London’s Image

Most trainers would spell a horse after a six-month campaign, but London’s Image isn’t most horses. Trainer Ryan Hill had planned to give his filly a break following her narrow second in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy, but her condition forced a change of heart.

“She was meant to go for a spell, but she’s just doing too well,” Hill said. “She flew to Melbourne on Thursday, and we’ll decide on the best race for her this weekend.”

Since breaking her maiden at Bunbury in September, London’s Image has evolved into a stakes performer. She led all the way in the Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m), then finished runner-up in both the Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) and Lee Steere Classic (1400m). A second Listed win in the Breeders’ Classic preceded her heart-breaking loss in the Magic Millions, where she was run down late by Smooth Chino.

That race came with drama, as regular jockey Brad Parnham was forced to withdraw after a race-day fall. London’s Image, known for shifting under pressure, lost by a neck.

“She ran her heart out, but things just didn’t go our way,” Hill said. “Brad missing the ride was tough, and she also drew a tricky barrier.”

Now, Parnham hopes to reunite with her in Melbourne.

“She’s nominated for a couple of races, and I’d love to be on her again,” he said. “I was gutted to miss the Magic Millions ride, so I’m keen to head over if it works out.”

London’s Image is nominated for the Listed Abell Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday and the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
