Tempted presses 2025 Golden Slipper claims in Reisling Stakes
Top jockey James McDonald has given a glowing endorsement of Tempted’s Golden Slipper prospects after piloting the James Cummings-trained filly to victory in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes at Randwick.
The talented daughter of Street Boss impressed with a strong finish, bouncing back from a narrow defeat in the Widden Stakes and an unplaced effort in the Blue Diamond Stakes in Melbourne.
Despite settling towards the back of the field, the $2.90 favourite displayed an electric turn of foot, charging down the outside to snatch victory by a neck over Marhoona ($11), with Inkaruna ($5.50) rounding out the placings in third.
“She’s a beautiful filly and she’s just promised a lot,” McDonald said. “She rides really well and she’s a genuine Golden Slipper hope.”
McDonald also reflected on the filly’s lineage, drawing comparisons to her dam, Calliope. “She was a little weapon of a filly,” he added.
Trainer James Cummings was equally delighted with the performance. “She’s come out of the Blue Diamond and hasn’t taken a backward step,” he said.
Following her impressive win, Tempted’s Golden Slipper odds have shortened dramatically from $26 to $9.
