Todman Stakes winner out of G1 Golden Slipper
The racing season has come to an early end for Tentyris, as trainers Anthony & Sam Freedman confirmed the promising colt sustained an issue following his dominant win in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
“Tentyris was found to be lame after his impressive win in the Group 2 Todman Stakes at Randwick on Saturday. A thorough vet’s assessment has revealed an injury to his left hind leg,” the stable announced in a social media post.
“Unfortunately, this will put an end to his autumn campaign, and he will not take his place in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.”
“This is very disappointing for the horse and his connections. He is a very exciting colt going forward and we look forward to having him back for the 2025 Spring Carnival.”
Tentyris had previously shared victory in the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) before going down by a narrow margin to Devil Night in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).
His recent Todman Stakes victory saw him overcome Wodeton, who has now drifted in the betting market to $5 for the Golden Slipper, sharing favouritism with Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) winner Tempted.
While Anthony Freedman played a key role in preparing four Golden Slipper winners under his brother Lee’s name between 1993 and 1996, his son Sam is still searching for his first win in the coveted race, coming close with Artorius in 2021 and Daumier in 2022.
