Jimmy set to sstar again in 2025 Kingsford Smith Cup
After Jimmysstar’s outstanding victory in the All Aged Stakes, Ciaron Maher was quick to praise the preparation that saw the gelding contest four Group 1 events and win two of them in a single campaign.
His next move could be north, with the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup on June 1 still on the radar.
“It’s a big ‘if’, but he came through Saturday really well,” assistant trainer Jack Turnbull said. “We’ll see how he progresses over the next few weeks.”
Jimmysstar’s rise has been meteoric — from Group 1 Oakleigh Plate winner first-up, to placing in the William Reid, and now conquering Randwick in the All Aged Stakes with a rating of 122, he’s become a revelation in Maher’s powerful stable.
“He’s got options going forward, but if we decide to spell him, he’ll be prepped for an Everest assault, maybe beginning with The Shorts,” Turnbull said.
He’s $6 second pick for the Kingsford Smith Cup behind Giga Kick ($4.50), with strong market interest already building through leading betting sites.
