Snowden launches two-pronged assault for 2025 Hawkesbury Crown

Peter Snowden’s hopes in Saturday’s Hawkesbury Crown rest with a pair of honest mares—Coco Jamboo and Tashi—who have drawn at opposite ends of the field but both thrive in wet ground.

Coco Jamboo, last year’s winner, drew wide in 17 and could jump from 13 depending on scratchings. Tashi, meanwhile, has gate two, though Snowden says track conditions could level things out.

“Both go well in the wet and there’s not much between them,” Snowden said. “Coco Jamboo probably has the edge given she won the race last year and has run well again this prep.”

Coco Jamboo was placed first-up in the Birthday Card Stakes and wasn’t far off in the Sapphire Stakes, finishing just over a length from the winner Infancy.

Tashi, fourth in the Sapphire, continues to chase a maiden black-type win after multiple placings.

“She’s run great races in Group company but hasn’t cracked one yet,” Snowden said. “She always gives her all—she really deserves to get one.”

Bookmakers rate both mares chances, with Tashi at $8 and Coco Jamboo at $9.50. Favourite Belclare holds top billing at $3.60.

Snowden’s record in the race includes wins with Kanzan, Aerobatics, and Coco Jamboo, and he’s well-placed to add another this year.
