Miller feeling generous about G1 glory in The Goodwood 2025

Posted by RS NewsWire at 6:25am on May 8th

Simon Miller knows Generosity faces her toughest test yet when she steps out in the Group 1 Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville, but the trainer says her performances in top company make her a worthy contender.

After securing her maiden Stakes success in the Sheila Gwynne Classic (1200m), Generosity turned heads with a powerful display in the Quokka (1200m), running third behind Jokers Grin and Headwall.

It was that effort in the Quokka that convinced Miller to send her east for a crack at one of Australia’s most prestigious sprints.

“She’s a beauty,” Miller said on RSN.

“Not many horses enjoy high pressure and can then absorb it and quicken.

“That’s her greatest asset, but unfortunately most of the races she’s been over here (Perth) have been sort of sit and sprints.

“You saw the best version of her in the Quokka and if they run along at a nice clip on Saturday, she’ll be there as well.”

Fiore, who has struck up a strong partnership with Generosity, retains the ride and will steer the mare from barrier five. Miller says the lightweight and familiar combination could prove decisive.

She’ll also ride stablemate West Star in the Northam Stakes (1300m) on Sunday before returning to Perth.

“She’s going to Adelaide for one and then I have to get her on the first flight back Sunday... She’ll come back and ride that for me as well,” Miller said.

West Star is being aimed at a Melbourne spring campaign following Sunday’s assignment. The son of Playing God won the Listed Belgravia Stakes and has only missed the top three once in seven runs.

Meanwhile, Generosity—originally purchased for just $9,000—has already earned over $900,000 and could push past the million mark with a Goodwood victory.

She’s rated a $17 chance with Giga Kick installed as the $2 favourite. Charm Stone and Ameena share the second line of betting at $8.
