Forgotten galloper back at Caulfield races

Forgot You is on the comeback trail again, with the former Group-performer to resume in the Thoroughbred Club of Australia Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday after yet another injury layoff.
Trained by the Cranbourne-based team of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Forgot You has faced extended breaks in his career, with suspensory injuries affecting both forelegs across multiple campaigns. During his latest time off, he was gelded to assist his long-term recovery and temperament.
“We took him to Perth in search of a Group 1 in the hope of maybe making him a stallion, but it didn’t quite go to plan,” Young said.
“So, in his lay-off we gelded him.”
The son of Savabeel had a standout three-year-old season, highlighted by a win in the Group 2 The Vase at Moonee Valley and appearances in the Victoria Derby, Australian Derby, and multiple Guineas features.
Following a fifth-place finish at Flemington in March last year, Forgot You was sent to recover under the eye of rehabilitation expert Lee Evison. Two recent trials, including a strong win on April 28, have connections hopeful about his fitness and readiness.
“He has trialled up awesome,” Young said.
“He’s dappled from head to toe and just looks fantastic. He’s a little bit pretty because of the time away and we’ve brought him along slowly.
“While Saturday is not his ideal distance, being a 1400 (metres), I can’t fault him on his work and his trials.”
A campaign through the Winter Championship Series is on the cards, with a potential tilt at the spring depending on how he progresses.
“He’s a Savabeel and likes a bit of cut out of the track and we would like to try and win some prize money with him,” Young said.
“Then if he holds together, we could target something into the spring, but it’s all about getting him back to the races, spacing his races and having him pull up sound after each run.”
