Givemethebeatboys ready to rock and roll in 2025 Luskin Star Stakes
After a few missteps, trainer Michael Freedman believes Givemethebeatboys is ready to deliver on his promise when he tackles the Listed Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) at Scone this Saturday.
The Group 1-placed import posted his best local performance to date when third behind Mazu in the Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) last start, following a solid debut in the Expressway Stakes and a disappointing run in the Challenge Stakes.
“His first start in Australia was very good. He only got beaten a couple of lengths by some very good horses,” Freedman said.
“I probably erred in taking the headgear off him second-up but he didn’t really stretch out on a firm deck.”
“That touch of softness in the track last start was more to his liking and I was really happy with it.”
Drawn in barrier 10 and back in visors, the four-year-old will be looking to capitalise on improved conditions and form, having not raced since mid-April but kept up to the mark with a trial.
“He put in a good performance and he has come on from it. Rather than just stopping and putting him out, I thought it was worth pressing on for one more,” Freedman said.
