Immediacy set for the 2025 Chairman’s Handicap
Immediacy will sidestep Group 1 competition this weekend as connections opt for a Group 3 target they feel is better suited to his current profile.
Trainer Trent Busuttin confirmed the son of Tarzino will line up in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2000m) at Doomben, rather than the Doomben Cup seven days later.
“The reality is he’s probably not a Group 1 horse – he’s a Group 3, fringe-Group 2 horse – so you’ve got to put them in the right races,” Busuttin said.
“We’re just trying to win some races and pick up some prizemoney away from the better horses.”
With a prime draw in barrier two and Mark Zahra booked for the ride, Immediacy looks well placed against a competitive field led by Sir Delius, an Arc runner last year.
If all goes well, Immediacy could step up again and be aimed at the $1.2 million Q22 (2200m) at Eagle Farm on June 14.
