Summer Flame ready to fire in 2025 Denise’s Joy Stakes at Scone

Chris Waller is poised to give promising filly Summer Flame her chance in black-type company when she lines up in the Denise’s Joy Stakes at Scone, as stablemate Amelita is likely to be scratched due to a tough draw and big weight.
“She’s got a big weight and a wide draw, two negatives,” Waller said of Amelita, a Group 2 winner who is now being considered for a Brisbane start instead.
Summer Flame resumes after a successful Melbourne prep that included a win at Mornington and two metropolitan placings. With a light weight and barrier three, she looks primed for her stakes test.
“It hasn’t been a long-term target but obviously any horse you can get black type for for a stud is important,” Waller said. “She will run really well.”
The Denise’s Joy field is headed by Victorian filly Soft Love ($3.30), with Gerringong and Thames also drawing betting support. Summer Flame is rated a $26 hope in the capacity field of 16 plus two emergencies.
Godolphin has a strong recent record in the race, having won the last three editions. Will they make it four, or will Summer Flame spring a surprise? Check odds and markets at the leading betting sites in Australia.
