Flyer out to make her mark for Brisbane features in 2025 Bel Esprit Stakes
Trainer Jason Warren is mapping out a campaign that could take promising filly Flyer to the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on June 14, but only if she secures a win in Melbourne first.
Flyer is entered for multiple races at Caulfield on Saturday—including the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m), a 1200m three-year-old handicap, and a benchmark 78 event. She's also been nominated for a race at Rosehill, though Warren favours the Caulfield three-year-old race as it forms part of the Creswick Sprint Series and looks a better fit.
“We’re aiming her at the Dane Ripper, but she’s got to win this weekend to justify the trip to Brisbane,” Warren explained. “The Caulfield race suits her age, weight, and prep perfectly.”
Flyer’s last performance was an eye-catching second in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville. That effort signaled a return to form following a lackluster second-up run at Moonee Valley on unsuitable ground. Warren said the filly had bounced back strongly after missing most of last year’s season.
“She’s come on well this prep,” he said. “We just need a dry surface and the right conditions on Saturday to keep her progression going.”
