Yulong snaps up Femminile

Femminile has been snapped up by Yulong for $1.5 million and will carry their colours in the $1 million Queensland Derby on Saturday.

The South Australian Derby winner remains in the care of Phillip Stokes, with Yulong’s Sam Fairgray confirming she’ll continue her preparation without disruption.

“She’ll race for us this weekend, and Mr Zhang is very keen to see how she performs. He believes there's still plenty of upside with her,” Fairgray said. “If she wins the Derby, it’s money well spent already.”

Femminile currently sits at $9.50 in betting markets for the Queensland Derby, with Statuario favoured by new betting platforms after finishing second to Femminile in the SA Derby.

She was among 14 mares to fetch over $1 million on Day 1 of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. Fellow OTI runner Lady Laguna also drew attention, selling to James Harron for $2.5 million.

The highest sale came with Zougotcha, who fetched $5.25 million from Tom Magnier, while Atishu was sold to Yulong for $2.7 million. Climbing Star, also snapped up by Magnier, was purchased for $2.1 million.

Katsumi Yoshida continued his strong buying presence, with his top purchase being Revolutionary Miss for $1.6 million.
