Yulong dreams of another Devil Night with Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale buys
Devil Night, Yulong’s exciting juvenile and winner of the Blue Diamond Stakes, is back in training and preparing for a big spring, as confirmed by the operation’s COO, Sam Fairgray.
Trained by John, Wayne, and Michael Hawkes, the son of Extreme Choice impressed in his initial campaign, which ended with a fifth in the Golden Slipper. He now aims to build on that promise with maturity and experience.
“He spelled really well and has come back looking a treat,” Fairgray said. “He was doing everything on raw ability and now it’s about developing into a complete racehorse.”
Devil Night’s likely spring mission includes the prestigious Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, although alternate Sydney options are on the table, depending on his progress.
“He’s already stamped himself as a Group 1 performer, and now we just need to guide him through the right races,” said Fairgray.
Yulong also made waves at the Magic Millions sale, acquiring three of five mares in-foal to Extreme Choice. Their purchases included $2.1 million mare Call Di, as well as Finepoint and Ravisher, bought for $1.3 million and $900,000 respectively.
“There’s strong demand for these mares, and we believe they’ll deliver enormous value over time,” Fairgray said.
