Miss Kim Kar keeping Queensland racing carnival hopes alive

Miss Kim Kar will be chasing back-to-back wins at Randwick on Saturday, with trainer Bjorn Baker hinting at a possible Queensland campaign should the talented filly deliver again.

The cleverly named three-year-old, a daughter of Kardashing, draws inspiration from global icon Kim Kardashian and has already captured the imagination of her all-female ownership group.

“I don’t know who named her, but she is well named,” Baker said.

“It’s a female syndicate and they’re having a great time at the moment so hopefully that can continue.”

Miss Kim Kar’s recent win came over 1400m on heavy going at Randwick, a performance that highlighted her strong finishing ability and continued improvement.

She returns to contest the Drinkwise Mile (1600m) from barrier six, well-positioned to show her best again.

“She is fourth-up at the mile so she looks really well suited,” Baker said.

“From the gate (barrier six) we will be able to put her where she’s comfortable.

“She is a promising filly. She’s four from eight so she is going the right way.

“She’s not overly big but she is all heart, very genuine and we love taking horses to the races like that.”

Miss Kim Kar was rated a $3.20 betting apps favourite on Thursday, with her connections keen to consider a trip north if she goes well again.

“If she happens to go well we could possibly look at some races up in Queensland,” he said.

“She is a filly that has continued to improve with every start she has had.”
