Double blow for Neville Parnham’s stars
It’s a frustrating winter campaign for Neville Parnham with both Bustler and September Born now on the sidelines for the rest of the season.
Bustler had two opportunities at Pinjarra, while September Born's long-awaited return was again short-lived following his breakthrough in the Fairetha Stakes (1400m) and runner-up finish in the Belgravia Stakes (1200m).
“He’s going to the paddock, he’s got some bruising on his bone,” Parnham explained to Racing WA. “It wasn’t worth pursuing.”
September Born’s spring exploits had him pegged to emulate his sister Kay Cee’s success in feature three-year-old races.
Bustler, meanwhile, struggled to replicate his best form and is now heading for a spell after disappointing in the Belmont Sprint (1400m) and Hyperion Stakes (1600m).
“He hit his front joint… both have been at Pinjarra,” Parnham said. “He’s as sound as a bell. I am guessing, but he doesn’t seem to like Pinjarra too much.”
Parnham is eyeing the Raconteur Stakes with God’s Gate, impressed by his most recent effort over 1300m.
“More importantly what I saw from him last start he toughed it right out all the way down the straight,” he said.
