Knobelas carries Royal Ascot colours to success

OTI Racing’s hot streak continued with Knobelas securing a convincing win at Sandown, hot on the heels of Docklands’ stunning Group 1 victory in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Favoured at $2.35, Knobelas was dominant in the Stow Storage Solutions Handicap (1600m), cruising home 3¼ lengths clear of All Business ($8.50), with Colour Our Word ($6) another two lengths back in third.

“It was very similar to last time,” said Michael Kent Jnr, who was aboard for the win. “She got her own way in front and if you’ve got the tactical speed and you take it up and no one wants to take you on, you deserve that.”

“She’s got a very good turn of foot. She sustained a solid gallop all‑the‑way when being up in grade, so that was quite impressive. She’s won by a big margin again and I know there is still a heap to come with her. It’s exciting,” he continued.

Knobelas, now two-from-three, was held back early in her career due to immaturity, but her combination of speed and composure makes her a standout for the upcoming winter races.

“She’s a very sweet filly, very sound, does everything right,” Kent Jnr noted. “I just love her change‑up gear and that’s going to win you more races than not. I don’t think she needs to go further than the mile at the moment, so we’ll place her through winter and see if she can win again.”

Next on the radar is the Silver Bowl Series Final at Flemington on July 5, where Knobelas may continue her impressive form.
