Jason Miller after further 2025 Strickland Stakes glory
Immortalising his place in Strickland Stakes folklore, trainer Jason Miller is ready to run Admiration Express in Saturday’s Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Pinjarra as he chases a fourth win in the race.
Miller, who began with Dedicated Miss as a jockey in 2004 and later trained Naughty By Nature (2021) and Prince Turbo (2022), believes Admiration Express is primed to peak third-up over the staying trip.
With a runner-up performance in last season’s Group 1 Northerly Stakes (1800m) at Ascot, she followed up with a late-race surge to finish fourth in the Hyperion Stakes (1600m), just two lengths adrift of the market leader, Western Empire.
“I think she’s definitely a good chance,” Miller told Racing WA
“Western Empire, Hemlock Stone, a few of them are going to be hard to beat, but she’s taken improvement from each run.
“Up to 2000m I think she’s as good a chance as any.
“Fitness is good, everything is good, I’ve just had to keep her happy.
“She’s bouncing around behind the scenes and I’m happy with her.
“She’s well, she’s fit, she’s in with a good chance.”
Ridden by Lucy Fiore from gate six, Admiration Express has pulled punter support in the Strickland Stakes market—shortening from $9 into $6.
Grant and Alana Williams also have strong contenders, including Western Empire ($1.90), Hemlock Stone ($4.80), Bucket’s Ridge ($11), and outsider Starry Heights ($51).
