Tim Clark hoping Belle tolls in 2025 Tatt’s Tiara
Grinzinger Belle will get her shot at Group One glory in the Tattersall’s Tiara, with top jockey Tim Clark opting to take the reins in the season finale.
After steering War Machine to victory in the Stradbroke Handicap, Clark sees the fresh-legged mare as a prime opportunity for another big win to cap off the racing calendar.
“My manager was keen. He had a look at the potential make-up of the field and she is the fresh horse on the scene,” Clark said.
“The mares that have been racing up there have been taking turns a bit and there isn’t a lot between them, so we looked outside the square a bit.”
Trained by Danny O’Brien, Grinzinger Belle resumed following a break after her unplaced run in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) and had previously notched a strong all-the-way win in the Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.
She brings with her excellent 1400m credentials and a racing style that Clark believes will prove an asset in the Tiara.
“A few of the mares’ races up there have lacked a bit of speed and she is one who is going to make her own luck,” Clark said.
“She likes to run along and break a field up. Hopefully we can end the season with another Group One.”
Grinzinger Belle is currently quoted at $11 in early betting markets, with Chris Waller’s Firestorm leading at $3.50.
