Final Siren set to start after top trial

Posted by RS NewsWire at 7:22pm on June 24th

Final Siren made an impressive statement ahead of his winter campaign by winning a trial at Belmont, showcasing the maturity and strength he’s gained during his spell. Trainer Rebecca Bayliss, buoyed by the gelding’s condition and trial win, has locked in the Listed Beaufine Stakes at Pinjarra on July 5 as his first-up target.

Under Lucy Fiore, Final Siren travelled smoothly behind the pace in the 1000m heat and quickened stylishly along the fence in the straight—an effort that left Bayliss very encouraged.

“I was really, really pleased with him,” Bayliss told Racing WA.

“He came back from his break really well and I was happy with the way he spelled.

“We were nearly going to go one after the Bunbury Stakes and I galloped him after, but I thought we needed to tip him out.

“I think we made the right call because if you go that one more and it takes forever to get over it.

“This time he’s come back nicely, obviously we know he can do it, but you have to have them right, don’t you.

“The plan is to go and tackle the Beaufine Stakes and after that we’ll wait and see how he gets through it.”

Since winning on debut by five lengths at Albany, Final Siren has consistently delivered, including a win in the Mount Barker Sprint and placings in the Pinjarra Classic and Bunbury Stakes.

Bayliss is optimistic the gelding is ready for bigger things.

“He knows his job and wants to get it done,” she said.

“Even in his action he looks more coordinated… I think he has improved, we’re hoping he has.”

Jockey Lucy Fiore was equally impressed post-trial, reaffirming confidence in the gelding’s condition and readiness.

Final Siren boasts six wins, five placings and over $300,000 in earnings. He has a solid first-up record and thrives on softer ground, making him a key runner in the upcoming Beaufine Stakes.
