Parnham confident of 2025 Belmont Guineas droughtbreaker
Brad Parnham and Stephen Miller are hoping their frustrating streak of second-place finishes in Stakes races will finally come to an end when Elite Missile contests the Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) at Pinjarra on Saturday.
The pair have watched quality runners like Magnificent Andy and Elite Missile hit the line strongly but just fall short. Andy placed second in the Northam Stakes, Belmont Sprint, and Hyperion Stakes, while Elite Missile flashed late to run second in the Raconteur Stakes.
Despite the results, Parnham remains upbeat about Elite Missile’s potential, especially with a better barrier draw this time around.
“I’m obviously real keen on his chances,” Parnham told Tabradio.
“He was a great run the other day in Bunbury.
“We drew the widest gate and had to get back to last.
“He does always finish off strong, but if we can draw a little bit better and not have to give them such a big start.
“The way he was finishing off you would say the 1600m is going to probably suit him better.
“Look, I think he’s going to give them a big shake.”
Miller and Parnham enjoyed success in the Belmont Guineas back in 2017 when Variation scored as favourite, and they’ll be hoping history repeats itself.
