2025 Silver Bowl Series Final an option for Harry’s Yacht

Harry’s Yacht produced a statement performance at Caulfield, winning the Remembering Robbie Lang Handicap (1440m) with authority and putting himself in contention for a spot in next week’s Silver Bowl Series Final (1600m) at Flemington.
Trained by the team of Leon & Troy Corstens and Will Larkin, the three-year-old gelding travelled smoothly just behind the pace before kicking clear in the straight to score by over two lengths. He started at $4.40 and was ridden to victory by in-form hoop Jye McNeil, with Yaldi ($18) and Butternut Princess ($17) finishing behind him.
The idea of backing up over the mile was being entertained post-race, though Larkin said they would assess Harry’s Yacht’s recovery first.
“It’s definitely a thought, we’ll see how he pulls up,” Larkin said.
“I didn’t know if he was going to be that dominant at the back end of 1400 (metres), but he was, so it’s something to consider.”
The gelding has now won four of his thirteen starts, with Saturday’s addition of a nose roll seemingly helping him settle and finish stronger.
“We thought that he was going to be a sprinter just because he was doing things a bit wrong and we didn’t know whether he was going to settle down to stretch out over further,” Larkin said.
“But his breeding would suggest probably a mile is going to be the best thing for him.”
Jye McNeil, who notched his 76th win of the season and entered the top 10 in the Metro Premiership standings, was pleased with the win but noted Harry’s Yacht may have more to give.
“He seemed to have floated a bit late, but he was out in front by himself,” McNeil said.
“Even if the competition was a bit stronger and he had to chase him a bit harder, I’m not sure.
“You never know how a horse is going to back up. That’s completely unknown, but I’ll leave that to the team. They know their horse.”
