Softer track Far Easier for stable star in 2025 Glasshouse Handicap

David McColm has no concerns about Far Too Easy’s form heading into the Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) this weekend, believing the gelding is poised to bounce back.
After an uncharacteristic 14th in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m), McColm cited the firm Eagle Farm track as a major factor behind the performance.
“The track was really, really hard,” McColm said. “Regan Bayliss just said to me from the moment he jumped, he just didn’t feel comfortable. So those firm tracks, he does feel them.”
Leading into the Stradbroke, Far Too Easy had finished runner-up to War Machine at Doomben, and has since impressed in a track gallop.
“He’s pulled up really well,” McColm said. “He had a gallop at the Gold Coast with another horse and he went super. We’re expecting a softer surface on Saturday which should be ideal.”
The gelding won the $2 million The Kosciuszko (1200m) in 2023, but won’t return for a title defence due to McColm’s recent move from Murwillumbah to the Gold Coast, which makes him ineligible.
“It was a tough decision to relocate,” McColm said. “We’ve lost the Kosi entry with him, but we believe the move was the right one long-term.”
Far Too Easy is a $4.50 second pick in markets for the Glasshouse Handicap, trailing only Warnie at $4.00.
