Time to hit the Detonator Jack, in the 2025 Winter Championship Final

Finals Day at Flemington will go ahead without Ciaron Maher on course, but his runners will be prominent, led by Detonator Jack and She’s An Artist who are targeting key Listed features.
Detonator Jack lines up in the VRC-CRV Winter Championship Final (1600m) with form lines through elite races like The Gong, the Doncaster Mile, and the 7+ Sport Stakes.
“Detonator Jack ran really well first-up but he got a long way back,” Maher’s representative Leigh Allen said.
“We thought he was a bit under what he normally is on returning but we can forgive him being a that far off them.”
“He’s been consistently running against black-type and group company, so he will know the difference here.”
He’ll clash with in-form favourite Oh Too Good, who heads the market at $2.70, with Detonator Jack available at $16.
She’s An Artist will attempt to remain unbeaten when she contests the Creswick Stakes (1200m) following her dominant 1100m straight win at Flemington last month.
“We gave her that look down the straight and she seemed to tick every box there,” said Allen.
“We were surprised with how well she won, not that she won... she should be winning again.
“We learned from last year with Pharari that they need to have a run down the straight first.”
Maher’s team is also represented in the Mahogany Challenge Final (2500m) by Shockletz, who benefits from weight relief and a suitable staying test.
