Raging Force could be set for the 2025 Golden Rose

With a third straight win under his belt, promising colt Raging Force is shaping as a spring contender, and jockey Tommy Berry believes the son of Cosmic Force could earn a start in the Golden Rose.

Raging Force, trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, sat off the speed before letting down strongly to win the Thank You ATC Members Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Berry, who has twice won the Golden Rose, was impressed with how the colt handled the race tempo.

“Every time in the winter you find one or two nice colts and fillies that have just taken a little time to mature and he was one of them,” he said.

“When he jumped so well, I really wanted to take the lead on him today and take bad luck out of the equation, but when they went too quick for him, he came back to me and relaxed well. He handled the situation perfectly.

“He is up and running and heading towards the Rosebud, Run To The Rose and Golden Rose where the horses that have already proven themselves at the top level are still just getting fit.

“He is already fit and he might just be able to catch them napping, hopefully.”

The colt had been among the favourites for the Breeders’ Plate last October but was injured during the race. He’s bounced back impressively this campaign, winning all three starts.

“He’s got a lovely attitude, a lovely, big action and he’s probably better on top of the ground as well,” said stable rep Aaron Lau. “He is very progressive and it’s exciting going forward.”

Raging Force ($1.70 fav) beat Horseshoe Hill ($7) by 2-1/4 lengths with Lull ($21) further behind. He was a $150,000 purchase for Darby Racing at the Inglis Classic Sale and is emerging as one of their most promising youngsters.
